Resage 1.0 is on the Mac App Store
Resage is live. You can install it from the Mac App Store right now, free to start, one click, nothing to configure.
Resage is a Mac reading app for your own files. It opens what you already have, PDFs in their original layout, EPUBs, and reads alongside you: a full page of text, and a companion beside it that stays quiet until you ask. Every answer is anchored to the page in front of you, and the longer you use it, the better it fits the way you read.
Here is what shipped in 1.0.
A calm reader, with someone to think alongside

The page comes first. Resage is a real reader, not a chat window with a file attached: you turn pages, you keep your place, and the discussion lives beside the text instead of on top of it. When an answer cites something, it cites a page, and clicking the citation takes the reader there.
Ask about any line

Select a sentence and discuss it right there. The passage travels across with your question, so you never have to describe what you are looking at.
It reads the whole file before you ask

Tap Digest and Resage reads through your whole file on your Mac. Scanned pages are recognized automatically, no OCR tools to fiddle with. After that you can turn to any page and discuss the entire file, not just what is on screen, and a green mark tells you which files it has already read.
The more you read, the better it fits you

Generic assistants meet you as a stranger every session. Resage keeps a private picture of how you read, what you already understand, where you got stuck, which kind of explanation worked. It builds across every file you open, so explanations get shorter where you are strong and slower where you are not. You never have to manage it, and it is never a black box: the memory page shows you every impression it holds, and you can correct or delete any of them.
Search what you read, and what you asked

One query runs across the text of the file and across every discussion you have had about it. The question you asked three weeks ago is part of the file now.
Also in 1.0
- Grounded, honest answers. Resage answers from your file, and flags a claim as general knowledge rather than dressing it up as something the text says. When it is not sure, it says so.
- Over 100 languages. Read in one language, discuss in another.
- iCloud sync. Your library and your reading position sync through your own iCloud account, not through us.
.resagebackup. Any file, with its discussions and notes, exports as a single portable file.- Private by architecture. Importing, Digest, indexing and search all run on your Mac. Only the few passages needed to answer a question are ever sent, and used only to answer it. We never train models on your files.
Get it
Resage needs macOS 14 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac. It is free to start, and free covers the whole reader: full-layout reading, Digest, memory, sync, backup. Plus, which you can subscribe to inside the app, gives you more discussions each week.
