Changelog

What changed in each release of Resage for Mac. The direct download updates itself — new versions arrive through Sparkle, and you can always grab the latest build on the download page.

1.0.11 — August 2026

A fix for people who were already using Resage before 1.0.10.

• Resage now stops at the sign-in screen on launch. If you had been using it before accounts were required, 1.0.10 still let you straight into the main window — the sign-in screen only appeared once you opened a book. It now asks on launch, as it was meant to. Your library and reading memory reconnect as soon as you sign in.

1.0.10 — August 2026

Resage now asks you to sign in before you start reading.

• An account is now required. Sign in with an email address — we send a six-digit code, there is no password to create — or with your Apple account. Your books, your notes and everything Resage has learned about how you read live with the account, so signing in on another Mac picks up exactly where you left off.
• If you were already using Resage, nothing is lost. Your library and your reading memory are still there. Sign in once and they reconnect — you are not starting over.
• Plus subscribers keep their plan. It follows the account across Macs. If you moved machines and it does not appear, there is a Restore Purchases button on the sign-in screen.

1.0.9 — August 2026

Two quiet fixes, one of which could have cost you your library.

• The first launch no longer creates a second, empty account behind your back. Two parts of the app were both setting up an account at startup, so a spare one was created and then abandoned. Usually harmless — but if your session ever expired, Resage could sign you back into the empty one, and your books would look like they had vanished. They had not; the app was simply looking in the wrong account. That can no longer happen.
• Dismissing the What’s New card no longer flashes a blank card.

1.0.8 — August 2026

1.0.7 could tell you about an update but could not install it.

• Clicking to install an update no longer quits Resage. On 1.0.7 the update prompt appeared correctly, but pressing the button closed the app instead of installing anything. Updating now runs through to the end.

Automatic updates now actually work.

• Resage tells you when there is a new version, and installs it for you. Every earlier build shipped with the updater switched off by mistake — it never checked, so the only way to learn about a new release was to come back to this page. From 1.0.7 on it checks on its own and updates in place. (If you are on 1.0.6 or earlier, this one last update has to be downloaded by hand — those builds cannot install it themselves.)
• Release notes no longer pop up once per window. With two windows open you used to get two cards, and dismissing the first left the second blank.

1.0.6 — August 2026

Finishing what 1.0.5 started.

• Opening a book from Finder now takes you into that book. 1.0.5 imported it and left you looking at the library, which was half an answer — you double-clicked a book because you wanted to read that book. It now opens as soon as the book is readable, rather than making you wait for the full digest to finish.
• Dropping several books at once still leaves you in the library. Jumping into one arbitrary book out of ten would be worse than not jumping at all.

1.0.5 — August 2026

Opening a book from outside Resage finally works.

• Double-click a book in Finder, or use Open With → Resage. Until now Resage would come to the front and then do nothing at all — no error, no import, no clue why. Several separate things were broken along that path; they are fixed. A book opened this way now lands in your library and starts digesting, exactly like one you dragged in. (It does not jump straight into the reader yet — that is coming.)
• Opening the same book twice no longer duplicates it. The same file open was being handled several times over, so one double-click could queue several imports of the same book.
• Citation links in answers work with VoiceOver. The whole answer was reported as a single block of text, so the page N links inside it could not be reached or activated with a screen reader. Each one is now its own element.

1.0.4 — August 2026

Three things that were quietly wrong in the reader.

• Word, TXT and Markdown in the import dialog. Resage could already read them, but the file picker wouldn't let you select them — you had to drag the file in instead. They are now listed like every other format.
• The selection highlight lines up with the text. Dragging across a passage drew the blue bar sitting above the words rather than around them, because the line spacing was all being counted on top. It is drawn properly now.
• Search hits and citation jumps are visible again in EPUBs. Matches were not being marked in yellow, and jumping to a passage the AI cited flashed nothing at all — both highlights were being cleared by the EPUB renderer.

One small thing that was quietly in your way.

• Settings while you're reading. ⌘, did nothing inside a book, and there was no way in — you had to go back to the library first. It now works anywhere, and Settings is in the app menu where it belongs.

Fixes to subscribing in the direct download.

• Signing in is now part of subscribing. If you weren't signed in, subscribing used to fail with an error that didn't say why. It now takes you through signing in and continues to checkout on its own.
• Plus unlocks when you come back. Payment happens in your browser, and Resage now picks up the moment you return to the app. If confirmation is slow, there's a button to check again rather than leaving you watching a spinner.
• Subscription screen polish. Plan cards are no longer clipped, and the button no longer jumps when you press it.
• PDFs that wouldn't open. Some PDFs stayed on the cover loading screen forever, even though the file had already loaded. They now open normally.

1.0.0 — July 2026

The first public release of Resage for Mac.

• Read your own files. Import PDF, EPUB and Kindle (MOBI, AZW3) files and read them full-page, with the original layout intact.
• A companion anchored to the page. Ask about the page you're on from the bar at the bottom, or select a sentence and discuss it right there. Answers are grounded in the actual text, and cite pages you can tap to jump to.
• Digest. Resage reads each file through on its own after import, so it can answer across the whole thing instead of only what's on screen.
• A learner profile that compounds. Resage keeps a private picture of how you read — what you understand, where you got stuck, which explanations landed — and carries it across files.
• Private by design. Your files stay on your Mac and in your own iCloud, and sync across your devices from there.
• Free to start. The whole reader is free, with a limited weekly discussion allowance. Resage Plus raises it.
