Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Resage governing your use of the Resage application. By downloading or using Resage, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Resage, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for agreeing to these terms or for consenting to the processing of your personal data. If you are under that age, please do not use the app. Resage is not directed to children.

2. License

Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Resage on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial reading. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law.

3. Your content

Resage lets you import your own files. You are solely responsible for the content you import and for having the legal right to use it.

You represent that you own, or are authorized to use, any file you import.
You must not import content you are not legally entitled to use, or use Resage to infringe anyone's copyright or other rights.
Your imported files remain yours. They stay on your device and your own iCloud; we do not claim any ownership of them, and we do not use them to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Resage to break the law, infringe others' rights, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our services, or circumvent usage limits or security measures.

5. AI output

Resage uses AI to help you read and discuss your files. AI-generated responses can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong — this is especially true for classical, technical, or specialized texts. Responses are for your assistance only and are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or academic advice. Always verify anything important against the source text. You are responsible for how you use AI output.

6. Subscriptions

Resage is free to start, with a weekly discussion allowance. Resage Plus is an optional paid subscription (US$4.99/month or US$39.99/year) with a higher weekly allowance.

No tier is unlimited. Every tier, including Resage Plus, is subject to a weekly allowance and a fair-use ceiling. How much of your allowance a single discussion consumes depends on what it requires — a question answered from the current page costs far less than one that searches an entire file. We may adjust allowances and fair-use ceilings; material reductions will be announced in advance.
Subscriptions are purchased inside the app, never on this website. In the Mac App Store version they are billed through your Apple account; in the direct download (.dmg) they are billed through Paddle, our merchant of record. Both versions carry the same price, and Plus follows your Resage account across them.
Unless cancelled, subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, and your account is charged for renewal.
You can manage or cancel a subscription wherever you bought it: in your Apple account settings for App Store purchases, or from the management link in your Paddle receipt email (or by emailing us) for direct-download purchases. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Prices may change; we will give notice as required before any change affects you.

Purchases through the App Store are also subject to Apple's terms, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Purchases through Paddle are subject to Paddle's terms as merchant of record. See our refund policy for how refunds work on each path.

7. Third-party services

Resage relies on third-party services, including an AI inference provider, Apple's platform services, Paddle as merchant of record for direct-download purchases, and an email provider for sending sign-in codes. Your use of the app through these services is also subject to their respective terms.

8. Intellectual property

The Resage app, name, logo, and design are owned by us and protected by law. These terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Resage is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Resage will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination

You may stop using Resage at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or use the app unlawfully. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Resage after an update means you accept the revised terms.

13. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law as a consumer. In particular:

Your statutory guarantee stands. EU law gives you a legal guarantee that digital content and services conform to what was agreed. Sections 9 and 10 above do not limit that guarantee, and they do not limit our liability for death or personal injury, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
14-day right of withdrawal. You normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content without giving a reason. Because Resage Plus unlocks the moment you pay, you are asked at checkout to agree to that immediate start and to acknowledge that doing so ends the statutory withdrawal right. Separately from the law, we offer our own 14-day money-back guarantee, which applies regardless — see our refund policy.
Taxes. Prices are stated in US dollars and exclude VAT and other local sales taxes. Where tax applies, it is calculated and added at checkout, and the tax-inclusive total is shown to you before you pay.
Your local law and courts. Section 14 does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms shall be submitted to the competent courts in Shanghai, China. If you are a consumer, this is subject to Section 13.
